In 2019 the Mu Sigma Upsilon Foundation awarded Nabila Mella the Stella Cadente Scholarship. A stella cadente, Italian for shooting star, is a rapidly moving, temporary meteor reaching towards the earth’s atmosphere. Embarking on a journey to explore the world and immerse oneself in a new culture can be the experience of a lifetime. This scholarship, in the amount of $500, is awarded to a sister of MSU who has been accepted to a study abroad program or cultural excursion program.
Nabila currently attends the University of Rochester where she is studying International Relations and Public Health with an expected graduation year of 2020. She became a founding sister of the Dianaia Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. in 2018. Check out this video to see how she used the Stella Cadente Scholarship to help her visit a region in India, Ladakh with a team to perform ethnographic research, which involves the study of peoples and their customs and habits!
