Hurricane Relief

Fierce winds rip through the streets as tumultuous rain pelts down buildings, flooding the pavement. Power outages, toppled buildings, and devastated lives lie in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria–and those were only hurricanes that affected U.S. territory. Since the beginning of 2017, 13 storms have been named and recorded within the Atlantic ocean. These tremendous storms have caused more destruction in four short weeks than all the storms in the past few years combined. Four storms have reached the Category 4 or 5 level, pouring trillions of gallons of rain onto the earth along with wind speeds upwards of 100mph–with Harvey, Irma, and Maria falling into this category. The US has never seen destruction from this number of storms of this magnitude in modern records–and hurricane season is only at the halfway mark.

Clearly, these natural disasters pose a serious crisis as citizens try to rebuild their lives while facing the imminent danger of continued storms. In response, many people have risen up to provide much needed disaster and relief efforts. As sisters, we too may wish to help in any way we can.
