Congratulations Class of 2018!!!

You have run the gauntlet and finally reached the finish line. We are so, incredibly happy for you and excited to see where you go from here. Undergraduate life is no joke. It is a period of sleepless nights, peer pressure, and academic challenges. It is a time of growth, soul searching, identity building, and character development. It is four years of forging, breaking, and fixing relationships. College is a time of discovery and a time to get lost.

But even if you lost your way, you had a community to help you get back on track. Whether it was your sisters, your parents, your professors or your friends, you had people in your corner who held it down when the going got tough. Remember them. Cherish the people who have always supported you as you continue to forge your own path and begin life after college. They will still support you as you struggle in your profession, in graduate school, or in your travels.

Graduate students, congratulations to you as well! You have put in many, many years into refining your knowledge base and pursuing your passion. We admire the hard work and dedication that you have dedicated to your studies. We are inspired by the work ethic you had to develop and utilize in order to reach that higher level of education. You are leaders in the community who will continue to push the generations after you into new realms of success.

Nothing that you have accomplished has been easy. But you still took the time to get there because it was important to you. Continue to embrace the values you hold dear, and never cease challenging yourself mentally. There is always something new to learn, a new idea to uncover, and a new project to start. This is only the beginning of a journey that you get to write.
